LILITH
An amalgamation of the various stories of Lilith - the world’s alternate first woman according to Mesopotamian and Jewish mythology.
This production was mounted at Soho Farmhouse and prior to that at the Platform Theatre, where it later returned. It consists of a collaboration between Chrysalis London, choreographer and artistic director Jodie Blemings, 17 dance company members, costume designers Laura Albeck, Anithra Wagiswara and Victoria Adebayo, set designer Philippine Laureau, lighting designer Andrew Ellis, projection designer Giulia Mazzocchi and composer DJ Walde.
For this production, Laura has designed and created costumes for Lilith, Ianna, Eden’s Guardians, and Humanity (Mankind & Womankind). Some of the designs are reflections on identity, mass-humanity, and the lonely crowd within a chimerical world, while others investigate mythology through the movement and flow of amorphous shapes.
